List of RU-486 Abortion Deaths - Vigil Days 11 and 12

There is a conspiracy of silence which keeps the truth about abortion from the public. When women are hurt or killed by abortion the mainstream press ignores it.
When unsafe abortion clinics are closed, it is reported by only a handful of local papers. This site lists the women killed by the RU-486 abortion pill I wonder if the young women scheduled for these abortions are told abortion sometimes kills women in addition to killing her child. Visit:

This Los Angeles Times Article is Proof that Legalizing Abortion Did not Make it Safe. A chain of abortion facilities was run by women who hired doctors who had addiction problems and questionable backgrounds. "By the time paramedics arrived, the patient was lying in a pool of her own blood, her pulse racing and her blood pressure dangerously low." Visit:

Operation Rescue Healthy Baby Narrowly Escapes Late-Abortion At Tiller’s Clinic Vigil Day 5 and 6

"Last September, a 22-year old woman and her mother arrived at George Tiller’s Women’s Health Care Services in Wichita, Kansas, for an abortion. The pregnant woman had been sent to Tiller’s abortion mill by a doctor in Reno, Nevada, who had told her that her baby suffered from dwarfism, water on the brain, and a number of other fetal abnormalities. He also told her that if she attempted to deliver the baby at term, she could die. Fearful for her life, the woman made the trip to Wichita, KS" Upon talking to a sidewalk counselor the mother agreed to get an ultrasound at a pregnancy help center. Read about the outcome visit

Scranton's 40 Days for Life Prayer Team Receives Blessing

Reading II
1 Cor 1:26-31

Consider your own calling, brothers and sisters.
Not many of you were wise by human standards,
not many were powerful,
not many were of noble birth.
Rather, God chose the foolish of the world to shame the wise,
and God chose the weak of the world to shame the strong,
and God chose the lowly and despised of the world,
those who count for nothing,
to reduce to nothing those who are something,
so that no human being might boast before God.
It is due to him that you are in Christ Jesus,
who became for us wisdom from God,
as well as righteousness, sanctification, and redemption,
so that, as it is written,
“Whoever boasts, should boast in the Lord.”

With only a few days advance notice,a beautiful Mass was planned for the success of Scranton's 40 Days for Life Prayer Team. Attended by 36 people, young and old alike, the Mass was celebrated by Father Ed Buccheit and Father Christopher Sahd.

Father Ed gave a homily with sentiments that all who pray out on the street in front of Planned Parenthood can relate to. Our weapons he said are small plastic rosaries on which we pray the Mysteries and the Chaplet of Mercy. And they are sometimes difficult to manipulate when your fingers are frozen. Father Ed also made mention of the Jeep in the parking lot accross the street from Planned Parenthood. It has a tire on the back with a tire cover that reads "Life is Good". Father remarked this has given him encouragement from time to time as do the beautiful mountains. I also have been encouraged by the reminder, "Life is Good". At the end of the Mass Father Ed gave a special blessing to prayer team members.

Our thanks to Father Ed and Father Sahd, Father Connor and our bishops who allowed us to use the Cathedral, Marge Reidmiller who served as Eucharistic Minister, and Mary Ann Haas who served as lector. Thanks to Donna Davis, Theresa Baux and Mary Ann Haas who with only a few days notice, made phone calls and helped to publicize the Mass.

Learn More about Planned Parenthood:
I want to share with you informaion about Planned Parenthoodin this section. Today there is an article by Gary Bauer about Planned Parenthood's campaign contributions to political candidates:

"What does Planned Parenthood do when it’s not destroying unborn babies? It raises money to help elect politicians who will pass laws that will make it easier for Planned Parenthood to kill babies. Planned Parenthood is already raking in record amounts of taxpayer-funded subsidies (over $305 million in 2006) and record-high revenues (close to $900 million in 2006)." Article continues here:

40 Days for Lent - Make the Committment

In the Fall of 2007, a small group of people in Scranton participated in a prayer vigil to end abortion. By the end of 40 days, that small number had grown to nearly 100 with a core group who pledged to continue to pray for an end to abortion.

Our prayer vigil site is in front of Planned Parenthood, 316 Penn Ave. Scranton, Pa.
This Lent we hope to cover their hours of operation approximately 9:30 to 4:00 Monday through Saturday. If you are interested in scheduling an hour or more of prayer, please call Donna Davis 348-5011 or e-mail lifeissues@hotmail.com with your prayer pledge. Please note whether you will be praying at the prayer vigil site, or from home or your church and leave your name e-mail and phone number so we can contact you.

Our prayer vigil begins Wed. Feb. 6. Please go to the www.40daysforlife.com to sign up on the official campaign web site so that you can read and sign the pledge and receive daily prayers and scripture reflections.

A Mass to pray for the success of Scranton's 40 Days for Life Prayer Vigil to end abortion will be held on Thursday, February 7th at 7:00 p.m. at St. Peter's cathedral in Scranton. All are welcome.

This blog is for Scranton Prayer Vigil news. I prefer to use this method rather than the web site provided as I find web sites frustrating. I am familiar with blogging and do not have the time to learn something new. Please pray for my daughters and granddaughter who are sick. It has been a difficult winter so far.
